Megastar
MEYER TURKU was commissioned to build a new ro-ro ferry in February 2015, and work began on yard number 1391 in late summer of the same year. Megastar was delivered to Tallink Silja in January 2017, and it’s since been operating between Helsinki and Tallinn.
The high-speed ferry cruises at a rate of 27 knots, covering the distance between the capital cities in just a few hours. Another plus point: Megastar can be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fully prevent the release of particulate matter and sulphur oxides and significantly reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide. Thanks to its 1A ice class rating, the ferry can also be used on routes with difficult ice conditions.
Megastar features numerous bars, restaurants and lounges, as well as two conference rooms. The brightly painted hull also houses various shops, including a 2,800 m2 superstore and 22 cabins for 2-4 people.
Megastar can accommodate up to 2,800 passengers and 150 vehicles.
