Viking 4

In 1973, MEYER WERFT delivered Viking 4 to the Finnish shipping company AB Sally. The car and passenger ferry was one of the so-called “Papenburg Sisters”, a series of nine almost structurally identical ro-ro ferries. Thanks to its 1A ice class rating, Viking 4 could also be used on routes with adverse ice conditions. It initially operated between Stockholm (Sweden), Mariehamn (Åland Islands) and Naantali (Finland).

Viking 4 was sold and renamed on several occasions over the following decades. It was scrapped in the Indian town of Alang in 2005. It was known as “Express O” at the time.
