Viking 3
In 1972, MEYER WERFT delivered yard number S. 565 to the Finnish shipping company AB Sally. The car and passenger ferry is one of the so-called “Papenburg Sisters”, a series of nine almost structurally identical ro-ro ferries. Thanks to its 1A ice class rating, Viking 3 can also be used on routes with adverse ice conditions. It initially operated between Naantali in Finland, Mariehamn on the Åland Islands and Kapellskär in Sweden.
Viking 3 was sold and renamed on several occasions over the following decades. It currently travels between Brindisi (Italy) and Vlora (Albania) for European Ferries under the name “St. Damian”.
