Wellamo
The Finnish shipping company FÅA, now Effoa, placed an order for a passenger ferry in 1984, and Wellamo was delivered by the shipyard, now MEYER TURKU, in 1986. Thanks to its 1A Super ice class rating, the ferry could also be used on routes with extreme ice conditions.
The ferry was renamed “Silja Festival” in 1992 and, in the years that followed, it mainly operated along the Stockholm – Mariehamn – Turku route. The ship formerly known as “Wellamo” now travels between Livorno on the Italian coast and Sardinia under the name “Mega Andrea”.
